My name is Lauren and I am determined to enjoy life in the face of Lyme Disease. After over 6 years of years of struggling with symptoms that no specialist or doctor could seem to connect, in 2016 I was finally diagnosed with Chronic Lyme. I have been treating my symptoms naturally since September 2016 and have been feeling a little bit better…. however I still have bad days, minutes, hours that come out of no where. These moments I am overcome with dizziness, muscle twitches, heart palpitations, tremors, shakes, jaw pain, joint pain, headaches, fatigue, digestive issues, panic attacks, anxiety, hypoglycemia, pelvic pain, insomnia, hormonal imbalance issues, dehydration, heat and cold sensitivity, brain fog, caffeine sensitivity, food intolerances, muscle loss, dry skin, numbness, tingling…. to name a few.
I originally started this blog to share my tips & tricks to living healthy without missing out on your favorite things. I was excited to share ways to make my favorite sweets guilt free, saving advice, organizing tips, my favorite yoga poses, weekly freebies or giveaways and reviews on some of my favorite products that I think you all might enjoy. HOWEVER, I am now using this blog predominantly to raise awareness and help find a cure for Lyme Disease and Tick Borne Illnesses as well as offer support for those struggling with the effects of these diseases. I also still share recipes and ideas on how to be the healthiest version of yourself no matter the diagnosis.
If you or someone you know is suffering from an invisible illness I highly suggest you continue advocating for your health and listening to your body. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re crazy. If you know something is wrong, push for answers! WE do not have to live in pain and YOU are never alone. Like my page to help raise awareness and find a cure! LIFE BEFORE LYME… took over
If you haven’t guessed this already, you should know: I LOVE ICE CREAM! I regularly find myself thinking of fun toppings, flavors and sundae ideas to whip up after I gobble down my (usually) healthy dinner. I don’t discriminate against any flavors but I do tend to choose healthier options ie. fro-yo in order to fill my bowl with extra scoops guilt free. After all you need to save a little for toppings, right!?
In addition to my love for ice cream I am also dedicated to my yoga practice. I started practicing about two years ago and try to make it to my mat everyday. I am currently in love with Bikram (did I mention I hate the cold?) but also practice Vinyasa & Ashtanga from time to time. If you have ever considered checking out a yoga class I highly recommend it! It absolutely changed my life.
I have been a vegetarian since I was 15 (technically a pescetarian since I turned 21). I have an “everything but the kitchen sink” salad almost everyday for one meal or another… check out some of my awesome salad addition ideas in my recipes. It is amazing what fruits, nuts & avocado can do to spice up lettuce! In the fall of 2013 I decided to go gluten free and in the summer of 2014 I went dairy free after years of complications that I couldn’t figure out. It was the best lifestyle change I have ever made (for me that is).
I also have a passion for saving. I have always been a bargain shopper which naturally led to starting to coupon in 2011. I am still shocking my “none-couponing” friends with my receipts and receiving thank you’s from those I have helped learn how to work the cash register magic. It is a great feeling being able to support most of my needs on such a small budget and still be able to get the products I love. Do you coupon?
